WALTHAM, Mass. – The No. 1 MIT women's fencing team wrapped up the fall semester by competing in the Brandeis Invitational on Sunday. The Engineers defeated No. 9 (D1) St. John's University (15-12), No. 8 Drew University (24-3) and Lawrence University (22-5) but fell to No. 8 (D1) Cornell University (16-11) and Yale University (24-3). Sofia Eun-Young Guerra (University Place, Wash.) led the foil contingent with a 9-6 ledger. Sophomore
Priscilla Leang (San Jose, Calif.) was the top performer for the epee team with a 7-6 tally.

HOW IT HAPPENED – EPEE:
- The epee squad generated a 21-24 record which featured an 8-1 performance against Lawrence and a 6-3 mark versus Drew.
- Priscilla Leang's 7-6 record included a 3-0 outing against Lawrence, a 2-1 total versus St. John's, and wins against Drew and Cornell.
- Senior Andrea Leang (San Jose, Calif.) went 2-1 versus Drew and Lawrence for a 4-2 ledger.
- Junior Zandra Feland (Los Gatos, Calif.) finished with a 6-6 record as she swept her opponents from Drew, went 2-1 against Cornell, and added a victory versus St. John's.
- Junior Eunice Choi (Las Vegas, Nev.) won all three bouts versus Lawrence and picked up a win against Cornell en route to a 4-8 total.
- In her only appearance of the day, sophomore Michelle Sotelo (Westford, Mass.) lost to both of her opponents from Drew.
HOW IT HAPPENED – FOIL:
- The foil team produced a 22-23 record that was highlighted by a 9-0 result against Drew and 6-3 totals versus St. John's and Lawrence.
- Guerra won her three bouts against Drew and Lawrence, went 2-1 versus St. John's, and notched a win against Cornell to finish at 9-6.
- Sophomore Amber Peng (Irvine, Calif.) posted an 8-7 mark courtesy of 3-0 outings against Drew and Lawrence in addition to a 2-1 performance versus St. John's.
- Junior Angela Yuan (Mississauga, Ontario) had a 3-2 record as she went 2-1 against St. John's and notched a victory in her lone bout versus Drew.
- Senior Amelia Schueppert (Houston, Texas) finished with a 2-8 ledger as both of her wins were against Drew.
HOW IT HAPPENED – SABRE:
- The sabre team amassed a 32-13 record as it went 9-0 versus Drew, 8-1 against Lawrence, and 6-3 versus St. John's and Cornell.
- Mikulevica swept her opponents from Drew and Lawrence and went 2-1 against St. John's and Cornell to help her finish with a 10-5 total.
- Senior Catherine Tang (Fremont, Calif.) registered a 9-3 ledger as she won all three bouts versus Cornell, defeated both of her opponents from Drew, went 2-1 against St. John's, and chipped in a victory against Yale and Lawrence.
- Sophomore Hannah Tao (Mountainside, N.J.) had 2-1 outings against St. John's and Yale, defeated both opponents from Drew, and earned a win versus Cornell and Lawrence to finish at 8-4 on the day.
- First-year Anna Hung (Dallas, Texas) picked up a win against Drew and added a pair of victories versus Lawrence for a 3-0 total.
- Senior Rhea Bhattacharjee (Bethesda, Md.) won two of her three bouts as she topped foes from Drew and Lawrence.
