MARLBOROUGH, Mass. – For the second straight year, Natalie Barnouw of the No. 8 MIT women's soccer team has been named the NEWMAC Athlete of the Year. Barnouw is joined on the first team by Sasha Ceol, Madeline Seebeck, Arianna Doss and Leena Mehendale. JoJo Miller and Ayla Sumer were named second team all-conference. Mehendale also earned the Laurels of Academic Excellence which is presented to the student-athlete with the highest GPA competing at the championship.
Additionally, head coach Martin Desmarais and his staff earned the Coaching Staff of the Year award. Desmarais is joined on staff by Jeff Katz, KD Dolan, and Vinny Coppola.
Natalie Barnouw

- Fourth First-Team All-Conference accolade
- Leads NEWMAC in points (53), goals (20), and assists (13)
- Tied for the most points in Division III
- Scored 10 goals in NEWMAC play and recorded eight assists
- Has 15 multi-point games this season
Sasha Ceol

- Has scored two goals and dished out two assists
- The MIT defense has allowed just six goals in 23 games
Arianna Doss

- Has six goals and three assists for 15 points this season
- Scored two game-winning goals
Leena Mehendale
- First Team All-Conference
- Second team all-conference last season
- Scored first career goal this season
- Helps lead the Engineer defensive midfield which has allowed just 41 shots on goal in 23 games
Madeline Seebeck
- First Team All-Conference
- Second all-conference accolade
- Helps anchor the Engineer defense which has posted 18 shutouts this season
- All 10 of her goals have come in NEWMAC play
- Tied for the most goals scored in conference play with Barnouw
JoJo Miller
- Second Team All-Conference
- First time all-conference nod
- Has anchored the Engineer defense which has allowed just six goals in 23 matches
- Scored first career goal against Johnson and Wales
Ayla Sumer
- Second Team All-Conference
- First all-conference award
- Has two goals and three assists for seven points on the year
- Put up 23 shots on goal
MIT will host the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament. The Engineers will play Emmanuel on Saturday, November 15 at 11:00 AM on Roberts Field.
