BOSTON, Mass. – For the first time this season and the fourth time in his career sophomore Austin Filiere (Chandler, Ariz.) has been named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Baseball Player of the Week. In five NEWMAC games last week the MIT shortstop hit .565 and drove in 14 runs.
Filiere was a key to an MIT offense that exploded last week and averaged over 17 runs and hits an outing. He started the week with four RBI against Emerson, including a bases-clearing triple that broke that game open. He then finished the week with a pair of two-run home runs in an MIT win over Clark.
