  • Men’s Heavyweight Crew Announces 2019-20 Recruiting Class

    The MIT men’s heavyweight crew program has announced its incoming recruiting class for the 2019-20 season as nine student-athletes join the team, which will be under the guidance of Tony Kilbridge, the H.W. McCurdy ‘22 Director of Rowing/Head Coach, for the 14th season.
  • Intercollegiate Rowing Association Announces 2019 All-Academic Honorees

    The Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) Board of Stewards has announced the All-Academic Team for the 2018-19 academic year. A total of 281 student-athletes from 28 institutions were honored, with MIT producing 12 qualifiers, including an IRA-best 10 women’s lightweight representatives.
  • Men’s Heavyweight Crew V4+ Captures Fourth Place at IRA Championship

    The MIT men’s heavyweight crew team closed out its season by placing fourth in the Varsity 4+ Grand Final at the Intercollegiate Rowing Association National Championship on Sunday on Lake Natoma in Gold River, Calif.
  • Men’s Heavyweight Crew Collects Bronze Medals at Dad Vail Regatta

    In its second appearance at the Dad Vail Regatta this past weekend, the MIT men’s heavyweight crew team saw all three of its boats advance to the Grand Finals with the Second Varsity 8+ and the Third Varsity 4+ earning bronze medals.

    In the first dual race between MIT and Marist College, both of which were tied for 24th in the IRA/USRowing National Coaches Poll, the Red Foxes captured a slim victory in the Varsity 8+ but the Engineers won the Second Varsity 8+ and Varsity 4+ races on Sunday morning.
  • Men’s Heavyweight Crew Captures Donahue Cup

    The MIT men’s heavyweight crew team swept all three races en route to capturing its fifth straight Donahue Cup on Saturday. The Engineers raced in a 12 mile per hour headwind with overcast skies that turned to sunny and warm at Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass.
  • Men’s Heavyweight Crew Competes in Alumni Cup

    Racing in ideal conditions for the Alumni Cup, with cool temperatures and a variable eight to 10 mile per hour cross-headwind on Lake Quinsigamond, the MIT men’s heavyweight crew team saw its Varsity 8+ and Varsity 4+ capture third place while the Second Varsity 8+ finished fourth on Saturday.
  • Men’s Heavyweight Crew Overpowers Coast Guard in Spring Opener

    For the second year in a row, the MIT men’s heavyweight crew team dominated the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in its spring debut on Sunday. Despite racing in difficult conditions that featured choppy water with a strong cross-headwind building throughout the morning, the Engineers swept all three of their races by an average of 24 seconds.

    In its final race of the fall, the MIT men’s heavyweight crew team finished 13th and 18th in the Varsity 4+ event and 14th in the Varsity 8+ at the Foot of the Charles on Saturday morning.
  • Men’s Heavyweight Collegiate V4+ Finishes Sixth at the Head of the Fish

    The MIT men’s heavyweight crew team continued its season at the Head of the Fish on Saturday where the Collegiate V4+ finished sixth out of 36 teams. The Engineers were slated to appear in the Collegiate V8+ and Collegiate 2V8+ events but the races were cancelled due to inclement weather.
  • Gift from Richard Resch ’61 to Support MIT Crew Boathouse Renovation

    Cambridge, Mass. (October 23) -- The MIT Department of Athletics, Physical Education, and Recreation (DAPER) has announced a gift from Richard J. Resch ’61 that will support a significant renovation of MIT’s Harold W. Pierce Boathouse. In recognition, the 52-year-old facility along the Charles River will be renamed the Richard J. Resch Boathouse.
  • Men’s Heavyweight Collegiate 8+ Captures Third Place at Head of the Charles

    The MIT men’s heavyweight Collegiate 8+ captured third place at the Head of the Charles on Sunday, marking its fourth straight top-10 finish and highest ranking in program history. Earlier on Saturday, the Club 8+ finished in 18th place.
