Men's Lightweight Hosts Joy Cup on Charles River

Cambridge, Mass.-  A week after taking home the San Diego Crew Classic, the Engineers lightweight crew team returned to action on home water for the Joy Cup which pitted MIT versus Yale and Georgetown.

It was a tough week of racing for the Engineers as the team fought a stomach virus that cascaded through the 1V, creating last minute lineup shifts that added novice rowers to the 1V boat.   At the end of the day, the Yale 1V came away victorious in 6:11.8.  It was a close race between Georgetown and MIT for 2nd, but Georgetown pulled away at the end finishing in 6:30.5 to MIT's 6:35.4.

The 2V had a similar result with Yale and Georgetown again finishing 1st and 2nd, with MIT's 2V finishing in 3rd in 7:05.2.

The Engineers hope to get back to more consistent training this week before they travel to Hanover N.H. for the Biglin Bowl next Saturday, April 19.
