Men's Lightweight Takes 3rd in Competitive Biglin Bowl

HANOVER, N.H.- On Saturday the men's lightweight crew team traveled to Hanover, New Hampshire to compete in the Biglin Bowl.  The Biglin Bowl consisted of racing between Harvard, Dartmouth and MIT and took place on the Connecticut River.

Conditions held steady throughout the morning for the Biglin Bowl with a very light tailwind and a light tail current.   MIT's V8 rowed a really gutsy race on Saturday, making some really solid improvements to their start and base from previous weeks that kept them in touch with the field for most of the race.  At the end, Harvard and Dartmouth were both able to pull away, finishing 1-2 respectively, and MIT finishing 3rd in 5:49.1, a little over 10 seconds behind Harvard.

The 2V8 struggled from the start and was never able to make a push into the race, also finishing 3rd in a time of 6:01.6.  In the V4's race, MIT made big improvements over their last showing but still have a lot of learning to do as the boat competes with all first year rowers.  Racing against Harvard's 5V's, they also finished 3rd in 7:05.9.

Overall, MIT was happy that they made improvements over the previous weeks racing but are continuing to learn that they are behind on power. MIT will next compete next Saturday, April 23 at the Geiger Cup in Ithaca, New York.
