  • Men's Fencing Picks Up Two Wins at Brandeis Invitational

    For the third year in a row, the MIT men's fencing team generated a 2-3 record at the Brandeis University Invitational held on Sunday. The Engineers defeated the University of Incarnate Word (18-9) and Cornell University (16-11), but fell to St. John's University (23-4), Harvard University (22-5), and Yale University (16-11). First-year Josh Sohn (Irvine, Calif.) powered the sabre squad with an 8-3 record while sophomore Robert Law (Los Altos, Calif.) paced the foil team with a 7-5 ledger. Sophomore Ritaank Tiwari (Los Gatos, Calif.) turned in the best performance for the epee contingent as he went 6-9.
  • Men's Fencing Goes 5-0 in NFC Opener

    The MIT men’s fencing team kicked off Northeast Fencing Conference action with a 5-0 performance on Sunday at Brown University. The Engineers defeated UMass Amherst (19-8), University of New Hampshire (26-1), Boston University (25-2), Brandeis University (15-12), and Sacred Heart University (15-12). Sophomore Aaron Lu (Belmont, Calif.) won 13 of his 14 sabre bouts while classmate Ritaank Tiwari (Los Gatos, Calif.) went eight of nine against his epee opponents. Senior Chris McKinney (Concord, Mass.) led the foil squad with an 8-2 ledger.
  • Men's Fencing Produces Four Top-10 Finishes at The Big One Invitational

    The MIT men's fencing team kicked off the 2019-20 season by producing four top-10 finishes at The Big One Invitational hosted by Smith College on Saturday. Sophomore Robert Law (Los Altos, Calif.) led the way with a fifth-place finish in foil while senior Yixuan Pei (Baltimore, Md.) recorded a career-best seventh-place performance for the epee unit. Sophomore Aaron Lu (Belmont, Calif.) rounded out the Engineers by ranking seventh in the sabre standings.
