CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Sophomore Chris Sweeney (Woodland Park, N.J.) has been named as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men's Track Athlete of the Week after his performance against No. 11 ranked Williams College at the Dick Farley Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
Sweeney set personal records in both the 110-meter hurdles (15.28) and the 400-meter hurdles (53.79) for second places finishes in each event. His time in the 400m race was eighth fastest in the country and is ranked ninth on the all-time list in program history.
MIT returns to action next weekend as some members of the team will head to Princeton University on Friday, April 22 for the Larry Ellis Invitational, while others will compete at home in the Sean Collier Invitational on Saturday, April 23 beginning at 10:15 a.m. from Steinbrenner Stadium.
