  • Women's Fencing Defeats Incarnate Word at Brandeis Invitational

    Facing its toughest competition during the first half of the season, the MIT women's fencing team posted a 1-4 ledger at the Brandeis University Invitational on Sunday. The Engineers topped the University of Incarnate Word (18-9) but fell to St. John's University (18-9), Cornell University (22-5), Harvard University (18-9), and Yale University (20-7). First-year Kristen Palmer (Brooklyn, N.Y.) powered the sabre squad with an 12-3 record while senior Taiylor Nunn (Westport, Conn.) led the epee unit with a 7-8 ledger. Senior Stephanie Li (Greenwood Village, Colo.) turned in a team-best 4-10 foil performance.
  • Women's Fencing Posts 6-1 Record at NFC Opener

    In her Northeast Fencing Conference debut, first-year Kristen Palmer (Brooklyn, N.Y.) won 16 of her 17 sabre bouts for the MIT women’s fencing team on Sunday at Brown University. Generating a 6-1 record, the Engineers defeated UMass Amherst (23-4), University of New Hampshire (24-3), Boston University (20-7), Wellesley College (14-13), Smith College (24-3), and Sacred Heart University (19-8) but fell to Brandeis University (16-11). Senior Taiylor Nunn (Westport, Conn.) powered the epee unit with a 16-3 ledger while classmate Stephanie Li (Greenwood Village, Colo.) amassed a foil record of 19-2.
  • Women's Fencing Posts Seven Top-10 Finishes at The Big One Invitational

    The MIT women’s fencing team opened the 2019-20 season by generating seven top-10 finishes at The Big One Invitational hosted by Smith College on Saturday. Senior Tesla Wells (Phoenix, Ariz.) led the epee unit with a career-best tie for third place while first-year Amanda Hu (Potomac, Md.) tied for third place in the foil standings. Fellow first-year Kristen Palmer (Brooklyn, N.Y.) powered the sabre squad by tying for fifth place.
