CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – For the first time in her career, senior Tori Jensen (Holliston, Mass.) has been named as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Softball Co-Player of the Week as announced by the league office earlier this afternoon.
In a 6-0 week for MIT, Jensen batted .381/.435/.810 (avg/obp/slg) which included two home runs, eight hits, four runs, a double, one triple, 11 RBI's and two walks. In 16 chances in the field, the senior was perfect completing 15 putouts and assisting on another. Jensen's first home run in game two against Coast Guard broke the program record for most in a career, while her triple in game one over Wheaton put MIT on top for good coming behind to win 5-4 and remain perfect in NEWMAC contests.
MIT (23-5, 14-0 NEWMAC) returns to action tomorrow afternoon when the Engineers travel to three-time defending national champion Tufts University for a doubleheader beginning at 3:00 p.m. from Spicer Field.
