BOSTON, Mass. – MIT sophomore Megan Gebhard (Howell, Mich.) was tabbed for NEWMAC Women's Volleyball Player of the Week accolades on Tuesday. In a 4-0 weekend that saw the Engineers win the Regis College Pride Invitational, she was voted the Tournament MVP after racking up 38 kills, a .533 hitting percentage, and three blocks.
In a 3-1 win over Gordon College in the opening match, Gebhard led all players with 11 kills and had a .364 hitting performance in three sets of action. She followed this up with seven kills and a .308 hitting percentage in one set of a sweep of Eastern Nazarene College. Gebhard was a force at the net in a 3-0 win over host Regis as she produced a match-high 11 kills, a .733 hitting effort, and two blocks. She closed the tournament with a match-high nine kills on 10 errorless attempts in a sweep of Gordon in the championship match.
MIT continues tournament play this weekend when it travels to Vassar College. The Engineers will square off with SUNY New Paltz and the host Brewers on Friday, Sept. 5 before continuing action the next day against the College of Mount Saint Vincent and Ramapo College.
