First-year Katya Shepherd Johnson became just the second MIT player to capture the main draw singles championship at the MIT Invitational as she defeated Julia Ross of Bowdoin by a 6-1, 6-4 final on Sunday. She is the first MIT student-athlete to win the title since Libby Rickeman did so in 2017 as a first-year as well. In addition, she advanced to the final of the doubles consolation bracket as she teamed with fellow first-year Alicen Liu.
