MIT Sport Performance

The MIT Sport Performance unit provides physical preparation training for over 500 Varsity student-athletes yearly. The program currently has three certified staff members, who work with coaches to conduct workouts, design training plans for teams and individuals, and promote higher performance through training safely and effectively.

MIT Sport Performance exists to:

  • Empower athletes to reach for their goals
  • Create an environment of focus, growth, and accountability
  • Develop relationships with athletes, sport coaches, and support staff to enhance student athlete well-being.

The Rudovsky Varsity Weight Room, a facility reserved for training Varsity athletes, is run by the Sport Performance staff, and serves the 33 Varsity programs, both at the Division I and Division III level. A variety of training techniques are utilized by the Sport Performance staff including resistance training, speed/agility work, reaction time training and sport specific conditioning. A strong emphasis is placed on building higher performing and more durable/injury resistant athletes.

Each member of the MIT Sport Performance staff are Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialists (CSCS), with training and certification from the National Strength and Conditioning Association along with a certification in CPR/AED & First Aid from the American Red Cross.
