Name, Image & Likeness (NIL) Policy

Name, Image & Likeness
The NCAA approved an interim Name, Image & Likeness (NIL) policy for all three divisions on July 1, 2021. Students may now earn compensation in the form of cash, goods, services, or in-kind (aka swag) benefits for the use of their NIL. Students may not earn compensation for athletic performance or enrollment at MIT and may not miss class time for NIL activities.

Improper use of Institute Name and Logo and Property, MIT facilities, uniforms, logos, trademarks, or other products protected by copyright in commercial promotions (social media posts, advertisements, etc.) is still prohibited. Please see MIT Policies & Procedures, Use of Institute Name for additional details.

DAPER supports students in their NIL pursuits. If you are presented with an NIL opportunity, please contact the Compliance office at eligibility@mit.edu to request the NCAA Reporting form.
