At the URI Invitational, Sam Engebretson's distance improved each round of the shot put competition, ultimately clinching the win on the last throw of the meet at 17.43m (57' 2.25"). His mark resulted in a personal record and the second-best performance in Division III this season. Engebretson also captured second place in the weight throw on the strength of his final attempt which reached 17.34m (56' 10.75").
