Junior Sam Dowd stroked the men's heavyweight crew varsity eight (1V) to a runner-up performance at last weekend's Head Of The Charles Regatta, the best performance for the Engineers since MIT won the event in both 2019 and 2021. Dowd has picked up where he left off for the Engineers after stroking the 1V to 21st place finish at the IRA National Championship last spring. Dowd ranks among MIT's all-time-8 erg boards leaders for both the 2000 and 6000 meter tests and was invited to an under-23 national team selection camp over the summer.
