Senior Anna Neuman scored the sole goal on Sunday during the NEWMAC Championship Game, just 4 minutes into play. With an assist by teammate Amanda Garofalo, Neuman’s goal was her third this season and clinched the NEWMAC Championship for the No. 12 Engineers, who would go on to defeat top-seeded Babson, who was ranked No. 3 in the country heading into the tournament. That was MIT’s fifth overall NEWMAC title and their first since 2012. With that win the Engineers received a first round bye in the NCAA tournament and will play next on Saturday, November 11th.
