Coed Sailing

The coed team was dominant at the Schell Trophy as the Engineers essentially led from start to finish on their home course. MIT won both divisions and the overall team title with 179 points to qualify for the Coed Atlantic Coast Championship set for November 11-12, 2017 at SUNY Maritime. In the A Division, senior Ty Ingram and junior Sameena Shaffeeullah registered six rotation victories and 12 top-5 placements over the 18 races for 87 points to win the division. Junior Trevor Long as well as sophomores Julia Cho and Marcus Abate won the B Division with 92 points as the trio won rotation 14 and finished in the top-5 in 13 of 18 races to help the Engineers secure a first-place team finish over a number of ranked teams from across New England. That led the coed team to a first place finish at the event. That win qualified the coed team for the fall Atlantic Coast Championships in two weeks, which the coed team won last year for the first time in program history.
