Freshman Sean Ko clinched the match winning point to seal the 18th straight NEWMAC Championship for the MIT men’s tennis team on Sunday afternoon. Ko opened the weekend with a win at No. 2 doubles (8-2) with teammate Kevin Wang in a 5-0 victory over Springfield in the semifinals before winning again at No. 2 doubles (8-4) and No. 4 singles (6-3, 6-2) against Babson in the championship. After MIT held the lead 3-0 over the Beavers on Sunday, MIT only needed two points from the six singles matches and Ko’s effort was the decisive one pushing the Engineers to a 5-0 sweep of Babson.
