THE BASICS:

- The Lead: Led by nine All-Conference performers, the No. 2 ranked MIT women's cross country team earned its 11th straight NEWMAC Championship with a convincing performance on Sunday afternoon at Franklin Park as the Engineers finished with 20 points.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Finishing as the runner-up was senior Mary Eccles (Wahiawa, Hawaii) with a time of 18:09, followed by freshman Katie Collins (Newton, Mass.) and junior Leandra Zimmermann (Augsburg, Germany) in third and fourth in a time of 18:11.
- Sophomore Katie Bacher (Macungie, Pa.) finished in fifth in a time of 18:31, followed by sophomore Marissa McPhillips (Narragansett, R.I.) in sixth at 18:32 as the team's final scoring runner. Rounding out the top seven was sophomore Megan McCandless (Livermore, Calif.) in eighth at 18:52, followed by sophomore Tessa Weiss (Scottsdale, Ariz.) in ninth with a time of 19:02.
- The final two All-Conference performers were sophomore Jenna Melanson (Woodland, Wash.) in 12th with a time of 19:10 and freshman Emily Niu (Painted Post, N.Y.) in 14th place at 19:12.
UP NEXT:
- MIT is back in action on Saturday, November 11th as the Engineers travel to Gorham, Maine for the NCAA New England Regional Championship. The women's race begins at 12:15 p.m. MIT enters the event as the defending regional champions and will be looking for the program's fifth regional title.
