- The Lead: In a meet with nine nationally-ranked teams, the No. 12 ranked MIT women's cross country team finished second overall with a total of 99 points. The other nationally-ranked programs in the meet included No. 6 Williams, No. 13 Amherst, No. 15 Bates, No. 18 Tufts, No. 23 Middlebury, No. 25 George Fox, No. 26 WPI, No. 28 Wesleyan (Conn.) and No. 35 Brandeis.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- The day began with the 6K Women's White race as the Engineers were led by a fifth-place finish from sophomore
Lily Janjigian (Rye Brook, N.Y.). She crossed in a time of 23:56.9 as she moved up five spots over the second half of the course. Right behind her in sixth was junior
Kirsi Rajagopal (Harrison, N.Y.) in 23:58.1, followed by first-year
Marina Ten Have (Tokyo, Japan) in eighth. Ten Have went out strong in the top five before finishing well in a time of 24:01.

Christina Crow (Mercer Island, Wash.) crossed in 12th place at 24:23.2 and first-year
Olivia Stoner (Haddonfield, N.J.) rounded out the finishers for MIT in 28th place at 25:02.4. As a team in this race, the Engineers finished with 59 points to place second behind Williams.

- In the Caroline Grape '22 Memorial Blue Race, senior
Izzi Gengaro (Boonton Township, N.J.) finished in fourth with a time of 21:49.8 to finish as the top NEWMAC runner and the first for the Engineers. Sophomore
Olivia Rosenstein (Urbana, Ill.) was close behind in sixth with a time of 21:57.5. Junior
Einat Gavish (Newton, Mass.) crossed in 22nd place in 22:56.5, along with junior
Anna Chau (Salem, Ore.) in 30th at 23:00.3 and sophomore
Sarah Bentley (Pacific Palisades, Calif.) in 43rd at 23:21.4 to round out the top five.

Anna Haddad (Tacoma, Wash.) finished 65th with a time of 23:53, followed by sophomore
Archana Mohandas (Thousand Oaks, Calif.) in 71st at 23:58.2. As a team, the Engineers were second behind No. 6 Williams as the Ephs totaled 74 points.

- MIT returns to action on Saturday, October 30th as the Engineers will compete at the NEWMAC Championship at Wellesley College. The Engineers enter the meet as the 13-time defending champions and are the only program since 2007 to win the NEWMAC title.
