No. 7 MIT Powers Past Worcester St., 6-0

THE BASICS:
- Score: No. 7 MIT – 6, Worcester St. – 0

- Records: MIT (12-2-1, 4-0-1 NEWMAC); Worcester (3-7-1, 2-3-0 LEC)

- Location: Worcester, Mass. (John F. Coughlin Field)

- The Lead: The seventh-ranked MIT men's soccer team's offense exploded for six goals as the Engineers shut out Worcester St., 6-0 on Wednesday night.  

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Sophomore Garrett Robinson (Winfield, Ill.) scored two goals just under two minutes apart to give MIT the 2-0 advantage. On his first goal at 24:44, he got past the Worcester St. defense for the unassisted score, and at 26:01 he took a pass from junior Rami Bikdash (Oak Ridge, N.C.) and put the goal into the back of the net.

- Off passes from junior Adam Snowdon (Lorton, Va.) and senior Noah Faro (Rexford, N.Y.), senior Garrett Gordon (The Woodlands, Texas) was able to convert his second goal of the season at 48:38 to make it 3-0.

- A few minutes later at 50:39, senior Sebastian Simon (Detroit, Mich.) got his second goal of the season off a pass from junior Will Seiple (Boulder, Colo.) to give MIT a 4-0 lead.

- Three minutes later, junior James Simon (Ann Arbor, Mich.) made it a 5-0 match as he took a pass from Adam Snowdon (Lorton, Va.) and found the back of the net at 53:02.

- Senior Kaleb Blake (Los Angeles, Calif.) wrapped up the scoring with his first goal of the season at 71:46 as he laced a shot past the keeper for the score.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  MIT is now on a seven-game winning streak, which is the longest since 2015 (eight games).
 
- The Engineers are now 5-0-1 all-time against the Lancers.
 
- This is the eighth shutout of the season for MIT.
 
-  Sophomore Zak Zhang earned the win in net to improve to 4-0-1 on the season.
 
- The two goals in the contest for Robinson are a career-high and he now has 15 points which are second on the team. His six goals also rank second on the squad.

UP NEXT:

- The Engineers will head out on the road on Saturday, October 23 for a pivotal NEWMAC game against Babson at 1 p.m. The teams rank first and second in the conference standings with MIT holding the top spot heading into Saturday's game.
