- The Lead: In the NCAA Division III East Regional Championship on Saturday afternoon at Franklin Park, the No. 12 ranked MIT women's cross country team placed second out of 29 schools. The Engineers posted a score of 65 points and narrowly fell to Tufts University by a six-point margin.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Sophomore
Olivia Rosenstein (Urbana, Ill.) and senior
Izzi Gengaro (Boonton Township, Pa.) led the Engineers with fifth and sixth-place finishes, respectively. Rosenstein crossed in a time of 22:39.2, with Gengaro just .7 seconds behind at 22:39.9. Next up in 15th place for the Engineers was junior
Anna Chau (Salem, Ore.) in 23:39.4, while sophomore
Sarah Bentley (Pacific Palisades, Calif.) placed 19th in a time of 23:47.8 and junior
Anna Haddad (Tacoma, Wash.) rounded out the top 20 in 23:48.

- Sophomore
Archana Mohandas (Thousand Oaks, Calif.) crossed in a time of 24:15 to claim 28th place, while sophomore
Lily Janjigian (Rye Brook, N.Y.) was the final Engineer in 39th place with a final time of 24:32.9.

- For their performances, Rosenstein, Gengaro, Chau, Bentley, Haddad and Mohandras all earned USTFCCCA All-East Region honors by placing in the top 35 overall.

- MIT now awaits to hear on Sunday in regards to an at-large berth in the 2021 NCAA Division III National Championship, which will take place on Saturday, November 20th at Tom Sawyer Park in Louisville, Ky.
