Â
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Â
- After almost 40 minutes of scoreless play, Emerson broke through with a goal at 39:40 when
Chris Moulinos got the ball off a deflection in front of the goal and kicked it into the corner for his third goal of the year.
Â
- Emerson quickly put up two more scores early in the second half. Moulinos sent a pass to
Gregory Kopanezos who placed it in the back of the net at 51:05. Just over a minute later, a corner kick was deflected in off an Engineer player to make it a 3-0 match.
Â
- MIT had a chance to get on the board in the 76th minute when senior
Adam Snowdon (Lorton, Va.) stepped up for a penalty kick, but his shot was stopped by
Ethan Fitzsimmons.
Â
- A shot from senior
Alex Weiler (Portland, Ore.) rang off the post and right to the waiting foot of junior
Aidan Hallinan (Carlsbad, Calif.) who put the ball past a diving Fitzsimmons at 86:25 to bring MIT to within two goals.
Â
- A flurry of MIT shots in the final minutes were not able to find the back of the net as Emerson secured a 3-1 win.
