- The Lead: At the NCAA Division III National Championship on Saturday in Michigan, the No. 7 ranked MIT women's cross country team was led by All-American performances from junior
Olivia Rosenstein (Urbana, Ill.) and senior
Einat Gavish (Newton, Mass.) to finish seventh overall out of 32 teams with a total of 223 points. The All-American performance was the second straight for Rosenstein, while this was the first career All-America award for Gavish.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Rosenstein and Gavish went out together over the first 3K and went on to All-American honors by finishing 12th and 31st overall, respectively. Rosenstein finished in a time of 22:13 over the six-kilometer course, while Gavish finished at 22:37.3.
- First-year
Katherine Sanderson (Hartford, Conn.) was the third MIT runner in 48th place in a time of 22:51.9, with senior
Anna Haddad (Tacoma, Wash.) next up for the Engineers in 84th place at 23:14.6. Sophomore
Christina Crow (Mercer Island, Wash.) was the final scoring runner for the Engineers with a 98th-place finish in a time of 23:25.8.
- Junior
Gillian Roeder (Delmar, N.Y.) was the sixth Engineer in 177th place at 23:58.3, along with junior
Archana Mohandas (Thousand Oaks, Calif.) in 188th place with a time of 24:02.3.
- This marked MIT's 13th overall top-10 performance at the NCAA Division III National Championship.
