The Lead: Led by a career-high 19 kills from junior
Brett Allen (San Jose, Calif.) the MIT men's volleyball team sent its graduating class out in style with a 3-1 win over NYU on Saturday afternoon. The match was the final for the Engineers who finish the year with a 13-9 record.
HOW IT HAPPENED:

Set 1: A block from juniors
Jack Yurkanin (New Lenox, Ill.) andÂ
Dylan Ryan (Oviedo, Fla.) tied the match at 11, but NYU scored the next three to pull ahead 14-11. Not to be outdone, the Engineers scored four straight to take the lead and went on to win the set 25-23 on a Yurkanin kill. Â

Set 2: NYU took a 7-6 lead using a 4-0 run, but the Engineers took the lead with a 4-1 run, led by two kills from senior
Bradley Albright (Burnt Hills, N.Y.). With the set tied at 18, MIT went on a 4-0 run highlighted by back-to-back kills from Allen to go up 22-18 and a kill from Albright gave MIT set two, 25-21.

Set 3: MIT doubled up the Violets in the third set as they jumped out to a 6-3 lead. NYU used a 4-1 run to get to within one at 11-10 and eventually pulled even at 12. With MIT leading 18-17 NYU used an 8-3 run to win the set 25-21.

Set 4: The Engineers raced out to a 6-1 lead, but NYU pulled to within one on a kill from
Ryan Whealen to make it an 11-10 contest. MIT then went on a 4-0 run with Allen recording three straight kills to put the Engineers up five. The Violets scored four straight to go up one at 18-17, but MIT got eight of the next 12 points to win the set 25-22 and take the match.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Â Â Allen and Yurkanin had a game-high 19 kills each. Yurkanin also added three blocks and 10 digs.
- Senior
Tommy Ogeka (Manorville, N.Y.) tallied eight digs and two assists in his final match as an Engineer.

- Albright wrapped up his career with 10 kills, 11 digs, and three aces.

- Sophomore
Max Turner (Chandler, Ariz.) led MIT with 52 assists in the four-set match while also getting three blocks.

- Ryan finished with nine blocks.
