- The Lead: In the season-opening Maribel Sanchez Souther Invitational, the No. 7 ranked MIT women's cross country team finished second out of five teams with a total of 53 points over the six-kilometer course.

- Senior
Einat Gavish (Newton, Mass.) was the top runner for the Engineers as she finished in seventh overall in a time of 22:52.19. Sophomore
Christina Crow (Mercer Island, Wash.) finished in 10th place at 23:02.77, followed immediately by senior
Anna Haddad (Tacoma, Wash.) in 11th at 23:04.20 and
Katherine Sanderson in 12th place with a time of 23:11.65. Senior
Anna Chau (Salem, Ore.) was the final scoring runner in 14th place as she crossed in 23:20.54.

- Rounding out the top seven was junior
Sarah Bentley (Pacific Palisades, Calif.) in 18th place at 23:33.34 and junior
Archana Mohandas (Thousand Oaks, Calif.) in 20th with a time of 23:39.72.
