Women's Cross Country

No. 6 Engineers Compete at Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown

 THE BASICS:
 
- Location: Boston, Mass. (Franklin Park)
 
- The Lead: On Friday afternoon at nearby Franklin Park, the No. 6 ranked MIT women's cross country team took part in the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown. Both the men's and women's team competed in the Open Division in a combined race that took place over the five-kilometer course.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
 
- For the Engineers, first-year Tessa Everett (Niwot, Colo.) led the way in 60th place overall as she crossed in 19:19 for a pace of 6:13 per mile. First-year Kaitlyn Flowers (Charlotte, N.C.) was next for MIT in 92nd place in 20:27, followed by sophomore Olivia Stoner (Haddonfield, N.J.) just five places later in a time of 20:37.
 
- Rounding out the four runners for the Engineers was first-year Stella Gassman (Larchmont, N.Y.), who was 100th overall in the combined race with a time of 20:48.
 
UP NEXT:
 
- MIT returns to action on Saturday, October 1st as the Engineers travel to the Pre-National Meet in Lansing, Mich. The race will take place at Forest Akers East Golf Course, which will later serve as the site of the 2022 NCAA Championship on November 19th.
