- The Lead: Behind a fourth-place finish from senior
Gillian Roeder (Delmar, N.Y.), the No. 4 ranked MIT women's cross country team finished in second place with a total of 99 points on Saturday at the Pre-National Meet. In the meet that was hosted by Dickinson College, the Engineers defeated four top-20 teams and finished behind No. 8 ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Roeder crossed in fourth place with a time of 21:57.3, running a pace of 5:53 per mile. Sophomore
Lexi Fernandez (Stevenson Ranch, Calif.) was next up for MIT in 11th place with a final time of 22:17.4.

- Junior
Christina Crow (Mercer Island, Wash.) placed 24th in 22:34.5, while first-year
Heather Jensen (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) finished in 30th place at 22:41. Sophomore
Katherine Sanderson (West Hartford, Conn.) was the final scoring runner for the Engineers at 22:45.1 as she crossed in 34th place.

Rujuta Sane (Chandler, Ariz.) finished 26th at 22:46.7, followed by sophomore
Erin Hovendon (Hendersonville, N.C.) in 65th at 23:11.3 to round out the top seven.

- MIT returns to action on Saturday, October 14th as the Engineers travel to Waterford, Conn. for the Connecticut College Invitational. The men's race begins at 10 a.m., followed by the women's race at 11 a.m.
