Men's Tennis Opens Spring Season Against Adelphi and BU

- The Lead: The 30th-ranked MIT men's tennis team opened its spring season with a double-header against Adelphi and Boston University over the weekend in the J.B. Carr Tennis Bubble.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED vs. ADELPHI
 
- Sophomore Wayne Nelms (Baltimore, Md.) and Sundeep Chakladar grabbed the lone doubles victory for the Engineers with a 6-3 win in two-doubles.
 
- In one-singles, senior Daniel Papacica (Carmel, Calif.) earned a tough three-set win over Hugo Munoz Reinoso 6-4, 2-6, 7-5.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED vs. BU
 
- Senior Derek Shen (Chestnut Hill, Mass.) and junior Kailas Kahler (Pawtucket, R.I.) took the top-doubles court with a 7-5 win over Dion Loutas and Alejandro Licea.
 
- Sophomore Ryan Xiao (Cary, N.C.) earned a sweep in three singles winning both sets in a tiebreak.
