- The Lead: Trailing 7-3 with six outs remaining, the No. 22 MIT softball team scored five unanswered runs to earn a thrilling walk-off win in game two against Babson to earn a doubleheader split on Friday night on Briggs Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED vs. GAME ONE:

Sara Moore gave Babson a 2-0 lead with an RBI single in the second, and
Allie Cubberly scored on an MIT error to make it 3-0.

- The Beavers tacked on another run in the sixth on a Moore single to center.
Â
- Sophomore
Mikayla Cable (Valrico, Fla.) led off the seventh with a single to center, and classmate
Mackenzie Bivin (San Diego, Calif.) made it a two-run gave as she lifted a two-run shot over the right field fence. Babson starter
Moira O'Reilly retired the next three Engineers to secure the win.

Caroline Langmeyer (Upper Arlington, Ohio) threw all seven innings and fell to 15-3. She allowed four runs (three earned) on eight hits with two walks and two strikeouts.

- O'Reilly tossed all seven innings and improved to 16-5. She gave up two runs on four hits with one walk and six Ks.

- Bivin went 2-3 with a run and two RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED vs. GAME TWO:

- Babson jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead in the first, but MIT got a run back in its half on an RBI groundout from Bivin.

- The Beavers increased their lead to 6-1 with a
Sophia Pak two-RBI single in the second.
Â
- The Engineers began their comeback in the third when first year
Ava Ladd (Austin, Texas) came around to score the second MIT run of the day on a Babson error in the third. In the fourth, Cable worked a bases-loaded walk to make it a 6-3 game.

- Pak put Babson back up four with an RBI single in the sixth to make it a 7-3 game.

- The Engineers did not go away as a three-run sixth made it a one-run contest. Senior
Jordan Sell (Schwennksville, Pa.) stole home while a Bivin single made it a 7-5 game. Sophomore
Kennedy Adkison (San Jose, Calif.) tripled home Bivin to make it a one-run game.

- With two outs, senior
Haley Samuelsen (Houston, Texas) reached on a Babson error to keep MIT in the game. Sell followed with a triple to tie the game up at seven and raced home on a single from Ladd to give the Engineers the thrilling come-from-behind win.

Deb Torres (Portage, Mich) pitched four innings of four-hit ball in relief and allowed just one run. She walked one and struck out one. Langmeyer earned her 16th win with one inning of work and allowed no hits with one K.

- Sell went 4-5 from the leadoff spot with three runs scored and an RBI. Ladd tallied three hits while junior
Katia Pendowski (Elk Grove Village, Ill.) finished 2-4.

- Moore finished 3-4 for Babson with three runs scored, and Pak finished 2-4 with three RBI.
