HOW IT HAPPENED

- Set 1: The visitors used a 6-1 run to take a 10-4 lead. Later in the set MIT used a 4-0 spurt to pull to within 19-14. A kill from sophomore Grant Oh (Irvine, Calif.) made it a 22-16 set, but Wentworth scored three of the next four points to win set one, 25-17.

- Set 2: Senior Troy Oliveira (San Diego, Calif.) helped spark the Engineers as they built a 16-13 lead to force a Wentworth timeout. The Leopards scored back-to-back points to get to within one, but the Engineers held on, as consecutive aces from Oliveira gave the hosts a 20-18 advantage. After Wentworth tied the set at 21, senior Nick Gustafson (San Diego, Calif.) put MIT back in the lead with a kill, but Wentworth recorded the next four points to take set two 25-22.

- Set 3:  A 7-2 MIT run gave the host an 11-6 advantage in the third set. Gustafson started a 6-0 rally that gave the Engineers a 21-12 advantage, and a kill from Oliveira gave the home team a 25-15 victory.

- Set 4: Kills from junior Phillip Johnson (Chandler, Ariz.) and Oh got MIT even at 11, but the Leopards responded to pull ahead 16-13. Wentworth then used a 6-1 run to go up 22-15, and they went on to take the set 25-18 to seal the 3-1 match win.
