- The Lead: The No. 16 MIT softball team's season came to an end as the Engineers fell to Moravian University in the Super Regional Championship on Saturday afternoon on Briggs Field.

Under the guidance of first-year head coach Madison Sullivan, the Engineers came two wins shy of tying the program record for wins in a season and captured the program's second NEWMAC Tournament Championship as MIT hosted both the NCAA Regional and Super Regionals this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME ONE:

- With two outs in the bottom of the second, Holly Walter tripled to right center, scoring Madi Cunningham and putting Moravian on the board.

- MIT tied the game in the top of the fourth when junior Mackenzie Relihan's (Naperville, Ill.) ground out to the pitcher brought sophomore Mikayla Cable (Valrico, Fla.) home from third base.

- The Engineers took a 2-1 lead during their next at-bats as a sac bunt by first year Ava Ladd (Austin, Texas) allowed senior Jordan Sell (Schwenksville, Pa.) to score from third.

- The Greyhounds went ahead for good courtesy of a two-run homer from Sage Snyder to centerfield in the bottom of the fifth.

- With two outs and the bases loaded in the bottom of the sixth, a Snyder single to centerfield plated Lindsey Gawrys and Mya Zettlemoyer and helped secure the win for Moravian.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Cable went 3-3, including a triple, while Sell was also 2-4 with a triple.

- In the circle, first year Caroline Langmeyer (Upper Arlington, Ohio) was charged with the loss, lowering her record to 21-5.

- Marcie Silberman went 3-4, including a double, as Snyder went 2-4 and tallied four RBI.

- Cunningham improved to 17-6 on the year.

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME TWO:

- The Greyhounds put up five runs in the first and that was more than enough support for Cunningham who allowed just two hits in the five-inning game.

- Moravian added another run in the fourth on a double by Snyder and Walter tripled home the final run of the day in the fifth.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Ladd and Bivin recorded the lone hits for the Engineers.

- Senior Deb Torres (Portage, Mich.) pitched 3.1 innings in relief and allowed two runs on seven hits.
