The Lead: The MIT men's volleyball team earned a 3-0 victory over visiting Elms on Wednesday night at Rockwell Cage.
HOW IT HAPPENED:

Set 1: First year
Ryan Espinoza (Los Angeles, Calif.) gave MIT a 6-2 lead, but Elms used a kill from
John Bellafronte to make it an 8-5 set. MIT got two straight aces from graduate student
Jay Goettman (McLean, Va.) to go up 10-6. Graduate student
Nick Gustafson (San Diego, Calif.) kick-started a 6-0 run for MIT to make the score 17-7 as the Engineers went on to take set one, 25-12.

Set 2: With MIT up 15-12, the Engineers scored five straight points, capped by an Espinoza ace to take a 20-12 lead and they would win the set, 25-16.

Set 3: An ace by sophomore
Ben Volokh (Studio City, Calif.) jump-started a 6-0 run to put MIT up 14-3. Elms used a 3-0 run to make it an 18-9 match, but a kill from Volokh gave MIT a 25-16 win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Gustafson led the way with 10 kills. Espinoza and Goetteman each finished with six while junior
Grant Oh (Irvine, Calif.) added eight, and sophomore
Michael Rini (Huntington Beach, Calif.) had seven.
- Junior
Riley Oh (Irvine, Calif.) led the way with 33 assists. Espinoza posted a team-high 14 digs.
UP NEXT:
- MIT remains at home and will host a tri-match this Saturday, February 17th. The Engineers will open with sixth-rank Vassar in a UVC match at 1 p.m. followed by a non-conference tilt against Endicott at 5 p.m.
