- The Lead: The No. 24 MIT men's tennis team earned a convincing 8-1 road victory over Wheaton College on Saturday afternoon in Norton, Mass.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- MIT won two of three doubles matches with first-years
Shrish Choudhary (Fremont, Calif.) and
Grant Gallagher (Irvine, Calif.) defeating
Paul Berteaux and
Jake Murray, 8-3, in the No. 2 position. Seniors
Kailas Kahler (Pawtucket, R.I.) and
Sundeep Chakladar (Redondo Beach, Calif.) quickly followed with an 8-6 win over
Jaime Galligo and
Eli Hanlon in the top slot.
- The Engineers did not drop a set in any of their six singles wins. Kahler opened singles action with a 6-0, 6-1 win against Galligo in the top slot, and Gallagher followed with a 6-3, 6-0 win in No. 4 singles over Bor. First-year
Siddharth Marathe (Pune, India) defeated Murray 6-2, 6-0 in the No. 3 slot.
- In the No. 2 position, Xiao notched a 6-2, 6-2 win over Berteaux while Chakladar registered a 6-0, 6-4 decision against Van Dyke in the fifth spot. First-year
Cole Armstrong (Mary Esther, Fla.) wrapped up the match with a 6-4, 6-3 win in No. 6 singles over Hanlon.
