Softball's Season Comes to an End Against No. 15 Rowan in Regional Championship

THE BASICS:
 
- Score: Rowan - 9, MIT - 1

- Records: MIT (30-14), No. 15 Rowan (37-7)

- Location: Glassboro, NJ (Rowan Softball Field)

- The Lead: The 2024 season came to an end for the MIT softball team as the Engineers fell to Rowan in the Championship bracket of the 2024 NCAA Regional.
 
With the conclusion of the season, MIT has now won at least 30 games in five straight seasons.
 
Juniors Mackenzie Bivin (San Diego, Calif.) and Kennedy Adkison (San Jose, Calif.) were both named to the All-Regional Team.

HOW IT HAPPENED

- Adkison gave the Engineers a 1-0 lead in the top of the first on an RBI single to the pitcher to score first-year Nicole Johnston (St. Charles, Ill.), but the Engineers left the bases loaded.
 
- Rowan put two runners on in the bottom of the inning with one out, but sophomore Caroline Langmeyer (Upper Arlington, Ohio) got a strikeout and foul out to end the inning.
 
- The Profs scored four in the third, and after a lengthy rain delay, Rowan scored two in the fifth and three in the sixth to take the 9-1 win.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Johnston and Adkison each had a hit in the game for MIT.
 
- Langmeyer ends the season with a 20-5 record.
