The Lead: The 2024 season came to an end for the MIT softball team as the Engineers fell to Rowan in the Championship bracket of the 2024 NCAA Regional.
Â
With the conclusion of the season, MIT has now won at least 30 games in five straight seasons.
Â
Juniors
Mackenzie Bivin (San Diego, Calif.) and
Kennedy Adkison (San Jose, Calif.) were both named to the All-Regional Team.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Adkison gave the Engineers a 1-0 lead in the top of the first on an RBI single to the pitcher to score first-year
Nicole Johnston (St. Charles, Ill.), but the Engineers left the bases loaded.
Â
- Rowan put two runners on in the bottom of the inning with one out, but sophomore
Caroline Langmeyer (Upper Arlington, Ohio) got a strikeout and foul out to end the inning.
Â
- The Profs scored four in the third, and after a lengthy rain delay, Rowan scored two in the fifth and three in the sixth to take the 9-1 win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Johnston and Adkison each had a hit in the game for MIT.
Â
- Langmeyer ends the season with a 20-5 record.
