WALTHAM, Mass. – In its final competition of the fall semester, the MIT women's fencing team went 4-2 at the Carla-Mae Richards Invitational hosted by Brandeis University on Sunday. The Engineers defeated Haverford College (25-2), Drew University (23-4), Lawrence University (19-8), and Wellesley College (15-12) but fell to St. John's University (21-6) and Cornell University (23-4).
Zandra Feland led the epee contingent with an 11-5 record,
Victoria Fang powered the sabre team with a 10-5 ledger, and
Amber Peng powered the foil unit with a 10-8 total.

HOW IT HAPPENED – EPEE:
- The epee team compiled a 33-21 record as it went 9-0 versus Haverford, 8-1 against Drew, and 6-3 versus Lawrence and Wellesley.
- Feland's 11-5 total was highlighted by 3-0 outings against Haverford, Drew, and Wellesley.
- Priscilla Leang posted a 9-4 record as she won all three bouts versus Wellesley and defeated both of her opponents from Haverford and Wellesley.
- Hannah Beaver went 8-4 as she defeated all three opponents from Haverford and had 2-1 performances against Drew and Lawrence.
- Eugenie Cha finished at 5-8 as she won all three bouts versus Drew and added victories against Haverford and Lawrence.
HOW IT HAPPENED – FOIL:
- The foil team went 23-31, highlighted by a 7-2 record against Haverford and 6-3 tallies versus Drew and Lawrence.
- Peng's 10-8 total included a trio of victories versus Haverford and Lawrence and 2-1 marks against Drew and Wellesley.
- Sandra Luo finished at 9-9 after winning all three bouts against Drew, posting 2-1 performances versus Haverford and Lawrence, and adding a victory against St. John's.
- Jordyn Goldson had a 4-14 ledger that featured a 2-1 outing versus Haverford and wins against Drew and Lawrence.
HOW IT HAPPENED – SABRE:
- The sabre team amassed a record of 35-19 which included 9-0 totals versus Haverford and Drew, a 7-2 mark against Lawrence, and a 6-3 ledger versus Wellesley.
- Fang's 10-5 tally featured 2-1 marks against St. John's, Lawrence, and Wellesley, and a pair of victories versus Haverford and Drew.
- Anna Hung and Hannah Tao both went 9-5. Hung defeated all three opponents from Drew, won both of her bouts against Haverford, posted a 2-1 mark versus Wellesley, and added a victory in her only appearance against Lawrence. Tao, meanwhile, went 3-0 versus Haverford, 2-0 against Drew, 2-1 versus Wellesley, and produced a win against St. John's and Lawrence.
- Cassandra He ended the day with a 4-2 record as she topped both of her opponents from Lawrence and earned a victory versus Haverford and Drew.
- Kelsey Fontenot went 3-2 as her wins came against Haverford, Drew, and Lawrence.
