NEW ORLEANS – The MIT women's cross country team has been named the 2024 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Scholar Team of the Year for the first time in program history.
The USTFCCCA recently announced the honor, along with its 2024 All-Academic Teams and All-Academic Athletes. MIT, the 2024 NCAA DIII Cross Country National Champion, earned All-Academic Team honors and was named the 2024 NCAA Division III Women's Cross Country Scholar Team of the Year with a cumulative GPA of 3.69. To qualify for All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.1 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period, among other qualifiers.
In addition to the team accolades, eight Engineers earned individual All-Academic honors. To qualify for All-Academic distinction, student athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-25 percent of their respective regional championship meet.
