Match Recap: Men's Tennis |

No. 23 Men's Tennis Falls to No. 18 RPI, 5-2

CAMBRIDGE, Mass - The No. 23 MIT men's tennis team opened its spring season against No. 18 RPI in the J.B. Carr Tennis Bubble on Saturday afternoon. RPI came away with a 5-2 victory in the match. 

THE BASICS: 

  • Score: No. 18 RPI 5, No. 23 MIT 2 
  • Records: MIT (0-1 Overall), RPI (2-1 Overall) 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • RPI swept the doubles matches in straight sets to secure the first points of the day.  
  • RPI went on to win the top three singles matches all by 2-1 margins.  
  • MIT grabbed wins in No. 4 and No. 5 singles. Sophomore Shrish Choudhary (Fremont, Calif.) earned a 6-0, 6-4 win over sophomore Tusbi Okada (Honolulu, HI) in No.4 singles while Siddharth Marathe earned a 6-1, 7-5 over freshman Quoc-Uy (Irvine, Calif.) Vo in No. 5 singles. 

UP NEXT: 

  • The Engineers will have two scrimmages on Saturday, February 22 before returning to regular season competition on Saturday, March 1 when they will host Vassar for a 3:00 PM match.
