CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Senior Grant Oh (Irvine, Calif.) recorded his 1,000th career kill as the MIT men's volleyball team capped its season with a Senior Day sweep of their matches on Saturday afternoon at Rockwell Cage. After dropping the first set against Rutgers-Newark, MIT won the next three and went on to earn a 3-0 win over Curry to end the day.

HOW IT HAPPENED vs. RUTGERS–NEWARK:
- Set 1: A three-point burst gave Rutgers-Newark a 14-10 lead, but MIT battled back to tie the score at 18 on kill by Grant Oh. The Scarlet Raiders replied with a kill as they gradually built a 24-21 advantage. A kill from junior Ben Volokh (Studio City, Calif.) kept the Engineers alive but Rutgers-Newark replied with a kill of its own to secure the win.
- Set 2: A kill by Volokh sparked a 5-0 run that resulted in an 11-6 lead. MIT maintained a small cushion until a kill brought the Scarlet Knights within 22-20. The Engineers countered by claiming three of the next four points to capture a 25-21 victory.
- Set 3: MIT quickly built a 5-1 advantage and held its lead throughout the set, reaching set point at 24-20 on a kill by first-year Kristof Spellen (New Rochelle, N.Y.). Rutgers-Newark responded with five unanswered points but a kill by Oh evened the score at 25. After trading points, an ace from senior Riley Oh (Irvine, Calif.) gave the Engineers a 27-26 edge while a block by junior Michael Rini (Huntington Beach, Calif.) and Grant Oh clinched the win.
- Set 4: MIT inched out to a 5-2 lead following a kill by Grant Oh. The Engineers stayed in front, reaching match point at 24-21 on a kill from Spellen. A serving error extended the match; however, another Spellen kill secured the victory.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Grant Oh amassed a career-high 23 kills and a .452 hitting percentage while Volokh totaled 15 kills and six digs. He is the seventh player in program history to amass 1,000 kills.
- Spellen produced 11 kills, a .500 hitting performance, and three blocks as Riley Oh generated a career-best 49 assists and 10 digs.
- Rini bolstered the defense with five blocks.
HOW IT HAPPENED vs. CURRY
- Set 1: A three-point run brought Curry to within one at 8-7, but the Engineers went on a 4-1 run to pull ahead 12-8. MIT used another 4-0 run to go up 16-10 and back-to-back kills from first-year Hansen Fan (Center Valley, Pa.) gave the Engineers the 25-16 win.
- Set 2: MIT controlled the set from the start. After Curry pulled to one at 4-3, the Engineers scored the next 15 points to go up 19-3 and an attacking error gave the host the 25-5 set two win.
- Set 3: The Engineers raced out to a 7-2 advantage and while holding a 13-9 lead, they used a 5-0 run to build their lead to 18-9 and a kill from Riley Oh sealed the 25-16 win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Sophomore Jensen Fiskin (Palm Desert, Calif.) finished with nine kills while Grant Oh and graduate student Aleks Markovski (Pleven, Bulgaria) each had five. Grant Oh also accounted for five aces and two blocks.
- Riley Oh collected 21 assists and Peermohammed grabbed five digs and two assists.
