GENEVA, Ohio – Senior Alexis Boykin (Clayton, Ohio) set the NCAA Division III women's shot put all-time record, winning her eighth career national championship with a throw of 16.80m (55'1/2"), as the MIT women's track and field team competed on Friday at the 2025 NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships at the SPIRE Institute's Outdoor Track & Field facility.
MIT is currently tied for first place with Wis.-Eau Claire in the overall team standings with 27 points. The Engineers and Wis.-Eau Claire are seven points clear of third place Wash U.

HOW IT HAPPENED - Field Events:
- Shot Put: Boykin won the event by over two meters, breaking Robyn Jarocki's NCAA Division III record on her final preliminary attempt with a throw of 16.80m.
HOW IT HAPPENED - Track Events:
- 400m (Prelim): Senior Marina Miller (Bel Air, Md.) was third in the opening heat in 55.30, finishing ninth overall to secure the final spot in Saturday's 400m final.
- 3000m Steeplechase: Sophomore Liv Girand (New York, N.Y.) finished the final in 10th place in 10:58.71.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Boykin is now a 15-time All-American, having earned four honors in the outdoor shot put. Of her eight national championship, four have come in the shot put.
- Girand's 10th place finish in the steeplechase is the first All-America honor of her career.
NEXT UP:
- MIT returns for the final day of the NCAA Championships tomorrow at 11:00 AM. Boykin will compete for the final time in the Hammer.
- The rest of the MIT squad is in action beginning at 1:45 PM. Nony Otu Ugwu (Katy, Texas) will compete in the triple jump while Gillian Roeder (Delmar, N.Y.) and Christina Crow (Mercer Island, Wash.) run in the 1500m Final.
- Miller runs in the 400m Final at 2:20 PM. Juniors Rujuta Sane (Chandler, Ariz.) and Kate Sanderson (West Hartford, Conn.) and Roeder follow in the 5000m at 4:25 PM before MIT closes the meet with the 4x400m.
