WALTHAM, Mass. – The No. 4 MIT women's fencing team kicked off the spring semester by producing a 3-2 record at the Eric Sollee Invitational hosted by Brandeis University on Saturday. The Engineers defeated Hunter College (23-4), Stevens Institute of Technology (19-8), and New Jersey Institute of Technology (23-4) but fell to No. 1 NYU (14-13) and No. 6 Tufts University (15-12).
Priscilla Leang won 11 of her 12 epee bouts,
Sandra Luo led the foil team with a 13-2 record, and
Hannah Tao powered the sabre squad with an 11-4 total.

HOW IT HAPPENED – EPEE:
- The epee team compiled a 33-12 record as it went 9-0 versus NJIT, 8-1 against Hunter, 7-2 versus Stevens, and 5-4 against NYU.
- Leang defeated all three opponents from NYU, NJIT, and Tufts and had a 2-1 total against Hunter.
- Hannah Beaver finished at 10-2 as she swept her foes from Hunter, Stevens, and NJIT and posted a 1-2 mark versus Tufts.
- Eugenie Cha went 8-5 after a 3-0 showing against NJIT, a 2-0 performance versus Hunter, a 2-1 total against Stevens, and added a victory versus NYU.
- Zandra Feland posted a 4-4 record as she had a 2-1 mark against Stevens and picked up wins versus Hunter and NYU.
HOW IT HAPPENED – FOIL:
- The foil team went 29-16 as had an 8-1 outing against NJIT, a 7-2 ledger versus Hunter, a 6-3 total against Stevens, and a 5-4 performance versus NYU.
- Luo won all three bouts against Hunter, NYU, and NJIT and had 2-1 outings versus Stevens and Tufts.
- Amber Peng generated an 11-4 record following a trio of victories against Hunter, Stevens, and Tufts and a win versus NYU and Tufts.
- Jordyn Goldson rounded out the squad with a 5-10 total after a 2-1 mark against NJIT and wins versus Hunter, NYU, and Stevens.
HOW IT HAPPENED – SABRE:
- The sabre team generated a 28-17 record that included an 8-1 total versus Hunter, 6-3 showings against Stevens and NJIT, and a 5-4 mark versus Tufts.
- Tao defeated all three opponents from Hunter and Stevens, posted 2-1 ledgers against NYU and NJIT, and added a victory versus Tufts.
- Victoria Fang went 9-5 as she notched 2-1 records against Stevens, NJIT, and Tufts, won both bouts versus Hunter, and earned a victory against NYU.
- Anna Hung finished at 8-6 as she topped all three foes from Hunter, went 2-1 against NJIT and Tufts, and had a 1-1 mark versus Stevens.
- Cassandra He lost to Hunter and Stevens to end the day with a 0-2 record.
