ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The No. 14 MIT men's volleyball team concluded UVC play with a 3-0 sweep of Nazareth on Saturday afternoon at the Robert A. Kidera Gym. The Engineers finish conference play with a 5-2 record.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Set 1: A 6-0 run which featured three kills from Matthew Louis gave the Engineers a 9-2 lead. A service error stopped the run, but the Engineers quickly put together another 6-0 run to pull ahead 15-3. The Golden Flyers tried to chip away at the lead with a block from Quinn Ringstad and Austin Drews getting the hosts to within eight at 19-11, but they would not get any closer as a Braeden Baker kill secured a 25-18 win.
  • Set 2: Back-to-back kills from Tristan Henderson tied the match at five, but MIT regained the lead with a kill from Henry Garewal giving the Engineers a 10-7 advantage. Naz pulled even again at 10 on a Daniel Mangan ace but MIT got a kill from Maddox Brandenburg put them in the lead for the remainder of the set as a 5-0 run secured the 25-17 win.
  • Set 3: The host got to within one off an Engineer service error that made it 8-7 early in the set. MIT held onto its lead with an ace from Bradenburg giving them a 13-9 lead. Nazareth scored the next three points to pull within one, however they were unable to get even. Another 3-0 run capped by a kill from AJ Burda yet again made it a one-point set at 23-22 but the Engineers were able to hold on with a Garewal kill securing the victory.
