PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Krystal Montgomery took fourth in the invitational 800m, running the top Division III time in the region this season, as No. 11 MIT women's track and field competed on Friday at the Friar Invitational, hosted by Providence College at the Ray Treacy Track at Hendricken Field.
THE BASICS:
TOP PERFORMERS - Track Events:
- 400m: Hon set a new personal record (PR) of 57.40, finishing second in heat two and fifth overall. Hon was the top DIII runner in the field.
- 800m (Invitational): Montgomery finished fourth behind a pair of Providence runners and a competitor from Harvard in 2:10.67 in the invitational 800m. All four of the fastest runners were in the second of the two heats, as Montgomery was the fastest Division III runner in the field.
- 800m (Open): Courtney McCracken and Sarah Hopp finished 27th and 28th, respectively, in the open 800m. McCracken's time was a new PR for the first year.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Hon moved to 31st nationally and ninth regionally in the 400m.
- Montgomery is now first in the region inside the top ten nationally in the 800m, ranking seventh overall.
- McCracken is 29th in the region and Hopp is 41st in the region in the 800m.
