MARLBOROUGH, Mass. -- The MIT women's track and field team swept the NEWMAC Women's Track and Field Weekly Honors for the week ending April 19, 2026. Hailey Surace was named the Field Athlete of the Week, Kate Sanderson earned Track Athlete of the Week and MIT's 4x 400m Relay of Madeline Hon, Erin Hovendon, Krystal Montgomery and Shreya Kalyan earned Relay of the Week honors.
Surace won the pole vault at MIT's own Sean Collier Invitational on Saturday, posting the top mark in the region this season by clearing 3.92m (12'10.25"). Surace now ranks inside the top ten nationally in the event, while MIT holds three of the top 20 marks in Division III in the pole vault.
Sanderson claimed the 10,000m title on Friday night at the Sean Collier Invitational. Sanderson finished in 34:58.73, posting the seventh-best time in Division III this season and the top time in the region this season.
MIT's all-senior 4 x 400m relay of Hon, Hovendon, Montgomery and Kalyan finished in 3:53.02 on the Engineers' home track to post the second-best time in the region and the 28th fastest time in the nation this season.
No. 11 MIT will compete at the NEWMAC Championships on Friday and Saturday, April 24 and 25, at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.
