Annika Naveen Named CSC Team Member of the Year; Beratahani and Smith Earn First Team Nods

GREENWOOD, Indiana – Annika Naveen was named the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Women's Swim and Dive Team Member of the Year as well as a First Team Academic All-American as the organization released its 2025-26 Academic All-America teams. Joining Naveen on the first team are Fiora Beratahani and Sydney Smith. All three are repeat winners.

Naveen becomes the first member of the Women's Swim and Dive Team to be named the CSC Academic All-America Team Member of the Year. She is now a three-time Academic All-American and becomes a first-team member after being named to the second team the prior two years. This season, Naveen earned the NEWMAC Laurels of Academic Excellence and the NCAA Elite Scholar Athlete Award as the Bioengineering major boasts a perfect 4.0 GPA, one of just three members of the DIII Academic All-America team members to have a perfect GPA. Naveen graduates as a 12-time All-American and a three-time National Champion. Outside of the pool she has done work at the Hermann Lab at the MIT Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research and at the Woolf Lab at the Boston Children's Hospital Neurobiology Department. She is also the President of the MIT Every Nation Campus and Director of Pre-Recruitment Activities at the Alpha Phi Sorority.

Beratahani earned her second First Team Academic-All America honor. She won her first national championship on the 3-Meter board this year after sweeping the board at the Regional Championship. She is a six-time All-American, two-time NEWMAC Diver of the Year, and holds the program record for the 1-Meter board. Outside of the diving well, Beratahani is an undergraduate researcher at the MIT Mechatronics Research Laboratory and at Precision Motion Control. She was also a Research and Development Intern at Boost Microgravity Treadmills and the Baker House Vice President of Facilities. She is working on her degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Smith, who was a Third-Team Academic All-America member last season, is a four-time National Champion and earned six All-America honors at this year's NCAA Swimming and Diving Championship to give her 17 in her career. She was the NEWMAC Swimmer of the Year after winning six events at this year's championship and holds the school record in the 100 fly. Smith will be interning with GE Vernova as an Engineering Intern and previously interned at The Ocean Cleanup where she was Weak Link Design and Testing Intern. Additionally, she was an undergraduate researcher at the MIT Development lab and an undergraduate researcher at the Bioinstrumentation Lab. She was also a mentor at the MIT Maker Works and Treasurer of the MIT Student Events Board while being on the Baker House Executive Board as the Treasurer.
