No. 12 Women's Track and Field Earns Runner-Up Finish at NED3 Outdoor Championships

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — Elise Doyle and Hailey Surace finished 1-2 in the pole vault to lead the No. 12 nationally-ranked MIT women's track and field team to a runner-up finish at the 2026 New England Division 3 (NED3) Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday at Springfield College. 

THE BASICS:

  • 2nd of 38 (66.50 points) 

TOP PERFORMERS – Track Events: 

  • 100 Meters: JoJo Miller placed sixth in the finals with a time of 12.70 after running 12.42 in the preliminaries, while Rachel Chen recorded a preliminary time of 13.03. 
  • 200 Meters: Miller added a 10th-place finish, crossing the line in 25.81. 
  • 800 Meters: Lexi Fernandez led MIT with a third-place finish in 2:14.08, followed by Erin Hovendon in 12th in 2:18.32 and Courtney McCracken in  23rd in 2:24.17. 
  • 1500 Meters: Megan Diulus posted a time of 4:54.31 to finish 13th. 
  • 100 Hurdles: Jadyn Grant finished eighth in the finals with a time of 15.57 after clocking a PR of 14.99 in the preliminaries. Rachel Chen ran 16.02 in the prelims. 
  • 3000 Steeplechase: Katherine Pagorek placed ninth, crossing the line in 11:44.60. 
  • 4x800 Relay: The MIT quartet of Megan Diulus, Sarah Hopp, Sofie Howard, and Courtney McCracken finished sixth with a time of 9:41.24. 

TOP PERFORMERS – Field Events: 

  • High Jump: Toutziaridi recorded a second-place finish after clearing 1.62 meters (5'3.75"), while Katie Kempff and Paige Dzenutis both cleared 1.57 meters. 
  • Pole Vault: Elise Doyle captured first place, clearing 3.81 meters (12'6"), while Hailey Surace finished second at 3.61 meters and Tessa Baker cleared 3.31 meters. 
  • Long Jump: Paige Dzenutis led the Engineers with a mark of 5.38 meters (17'8"), followed by Kempff at 5.15 meters (16'10.75"). 
  • Triple Jump: Kempff recorded a best jump of 10.69 meters (35'1") to take 13th. 
  • Shot Put: Lily Siegelman posted a mark of 11.32 meters (37'1.75") to finish 13th. 
  • Discus: Macy Brennan placed third with a throw of 41.41 meters (135'10"), followed by Lilia Ould-Hammou at 39.44 meters and Lily Siegelman at 35.13 meters. 
  • Hammer Throw: Lily Siegelman led MIT with a fourth-place throw of 49.32 meters (161'10"), with Macy Brennan (49.21m) and Lilia Ould-Hammou (49.08m) close behind. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • Doyle's finish in the pole vault moved her to 18th nationally. The Engineers now have three student-athletes inside the top 18 in the pole vault.  
  • MIT has eight student-athletes in six events currently ranked inside the top 25 nationally. 

NEXT UP: 

  • The Engineers will compete at the Williams F.I.R.E Meet, Friday and Saturday, May 8 and 9, in Williamstown, Mass.
