LEWISBURG, Pa. – The MIT water polo team made a second half comeback but saw the comeback fall short on a late goal from Salem as the Engineer dropped a 11-10 decision to the Tigers on the final day at  the Bucknell Invitational in the Kinney Natatorium.  
 
THE BASICS: 

• Score: Salem 11, MIT 10 
• Records: MIT (2-5 Overall), Salem University (2-9 Overall) 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

•  In a defensive first quarter, Rick Lundh had the lone goal at the 2:28 mark to give MIT the lead. 
• The offense picked up the pace a bit in the second. Salem opened the quarter with the first three goals to pull ahead before Caspar Lightner scored at 4:03 to make it a 3-2 match. Antonio Sablic found the back to the net to increase the Salem lead, but Lightner scored his second to pull MIT back to within one at 1:32. Salem scored again, but Kunal Rajadhyax buried a shot at the buzzer to send the match into the half with MIT trailing by one. 
• Salem opened the third with a goal to make it 7-4, but three straight MIT goals from Andras Beleznay, William Ewald, and Jackson Kay send the teams into the final quarter tied at seven. 
• Lightner gave MIT the lead with a goal at 7:17, but Salem quickly tied the match. The teams went back-and-forth, and Lightner gave MIT the 10-9 advantage with 3:59 left. Salem then scored the last two goals, including the game-winner with one second left to win the match. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

• Lightner led MIT with four goals. 
• Kieran Kearns led the Engineers with two assists and Ewald had two steals. 
• Joshua Woren made seven saves in goal. 

UP NEXT: 

• MIT is back in the pool on Saturday, September 26 when they will head to Brown University to take on Johns Hopkins at 10:15 am followed by a 12:45 match against Wheaton.
