Erika Sloan enters her fourth year as the Richard J. Resch (1961) Assistant Men's Lightweight Coach in 2024-2025.
Sloan joined MIT from the Craftsbury Outdoor Center in Vermont, where she was the sculling programs coordinator and coached a wide range of athletes within the sculling camps, community rowing, and U23 programs while working alongside and learning from many talented coaches. Prior to Craftsbury, Sloan spent a year as the assistant men’s coach of the competitive club rowing program at Middlebury College. During her tenure, she led the novice men to the Grand Finals at the New England Rowing Championships and the Dad Vail Regatta.

Sloan began her rowing career at Simsbury High School in Simsbury, Conn. She went on to row for the club team at Middlebury College, where she earned a Dad Vail silver medal and served as team president her senior year. She graduated in 2016 with a B.A. in Classical Studies. Sloan has also rowed for Vesper Boat Club, where she raced the U23 lightweight women’s 2x to several podium finishes. She is still an active sculler and enjoys rowing and racing her single on the Charles River.
