Whitney Macon enters her fourth year as an assistant cross country and track and field coach for MIT in 2025-2026, having spent her first two seasons as a volunteer assistant before joining the staff in 2024-25.
Macon graduated from Harvard University in 2015, where she competed for the Women's Cross Country and Track and Field Program. While competing for Harvard, Macon earned All Ivy League honors and  USTFCCCA All Academic recognition. Macon received her Master's degree in Sport Administration from the University of New Mexico, where she competed for the Lobo Cross Country team. Macon was a top-7 member of the University of New Mexico Cross Country team who won the 2015 NCAA Division I Cross Country National Title.
Macon continues to compete following her collegiate career. She competed in 2 Olympic Marathon Trials and was ranked as a Top-25 American Marathoner in 2020 and 2022.
